Now here’s Sheridan Media’s look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on Feb. 23, 1921. After a two weeks’ visit in Washington, the adjutant for the American Legion, Department of Wyoming, has returned with the news that Fort McKenzie will be utilized at once as a hospital for disabled servicemen. Billings High defeated Sheridan High 25-13 tonight in an exhibition of basketball that was far superior to any yet presented by Coach Wright’s team, with Billings winning by a narrower margin than the previous game. Fred Schaper of Buffalo, accompanied by his wife, returned home tonight after transacting business in Sheridan Monday and yesterday.

Randy Smith: Mocs Prepare For 1st February Football Contest Wednesday, February 10, 2021 - by Randy Smith Randy Smith College football fans are getting a real bonus this winter and spring, thanks to COVID-19. The teams and conferences that cancelled their fall schedule last year will be playing a series of games beginning in less than two weeks. The Chattanooga Mocs open their COVID season on Feb. 20 against VMI at high noon, in front of no fans at all. Due to the winterization of Finley Stadium, fans will not be allowed into the first two home games. Fans will finally be able to see the Mocs play in person in a limited capacity on March 27 when they host Mercer.

Tuscaloosa Academy Hires Former Bessemer Academy Coach Dennis Victory of AL.com reported Thursday that Tuscaloosa Academy will be hiring Josh Wright, the former Bessemer Academy coach, to lead the Knights’ football team going forward. During his time at Bessemer Academy, Wright accumulated a 131-37 overall record which equated to a 78% winning percentage. While Bessemer Academy was Wright’s first head coaching job, he still coached the Knights to 12 playoff appearances in 13 years. Bessemer Academy, a regional rival for T.A. in AISA AAA Region 2, won four state titles out of the eight that the Rebels qualified for and eight region titles during his tenure, which accumulated a 75.8% winning percentage in the playoffs.
