Management undergo mental health training so they can support employees at Conwy hotel

A COMPANY which operates a hotel and restaurant in Conwy has taken steps to look after staff mental health. More than 40 members of the senior management team at the Coaching Inn Group, who look after 18 of the group’s hotels and inns - including The Castle in Conwy - have received accredited training to help deal with mental health issues. Chris Moores, head of HR, said: “The lockdown had been really tough for everyone, not least those in the hospitality sector who had faced extreme uncertainty. We put our team at The Castle and all our other hotels at the heart of our core business principles and making sure that we have mental health support available if needed at each of our inns reaffirms our commitment to support our people.

Chris Birdsell-Jones THE manager of a Welshpool hotel has made his first foray into the world of poetry Welshpool’s Royal Oak Hotel may be closed because of the national lockdown, but enthusiastic general manager Chris Birdsell-Jones has now turned to verse to help keep everyone’s spirits up. For he, fellow general managers and other colleagues across the 18 strong Coaching Inn Group now star in a poem that can be watched here. “We really are one big family and are all keeping in close touch with one another through social media,” Chris said. Chief executive Kevin Charity said the 10 verse poem about the hotels and their team members very much reflected the strong sense of camaraderie felt within the Coaching Inn Group.
