Dear Editor,
We signed up for Green Consumer Alliance two years ago and have been using 100% wind power for our electricity (delivered by Eversource).
In the upcoming Town Meeting, the town will have the chance to vote on increasing the percentage of our electricity that comes from renewables. I d like to encourage everyone to vote for the Energy Committee s Warrant Article 21.

If the town goes forward, every residence will be signed up, but have the opportunity to opt out. It may cost a little more, but that will be more than offset by the benefits to the environment. There will be no change in service and you will receive the same detailed bill from Eversource.

Andrew Brettner models in Surf Style clothing on the mobility mat at Treasure Island Beach. (Jessica McKnight Photography)
CLEARWATER, Fla. – Help Us Gather (HUG), a Clearwater-based nonprofit with a mission to advocate for the inclusion of people with disabilities, is again partnering with beachwear retailer Surf Style to show fashion is for everyone. After a 2019 campaign featuring a model with Down syndrome went viral around the world, Surf Style will now feature a new model with Cerebral palsy in a 2021 campaign that is hitting stores soon.
Andrew Brettner, Surf Style s newest model, is a 25-year-old St. Petersburg resident whose good looks often draw comparisons to Tom Cruise. Brettner uses a power chair for mobility, which is featured prominently in the new campaign. HUG recruited Brettner to model for both his good looks, and the opportunity to create disability awareness and normalize mobility devices in daily life.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be conducting a DUI and driver s license checkpoint on Friday, May May 7 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety, increase the awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired driving and unlicensed driving. The intent of the checkpoint is to encourage sober designated drivers, MBPD said in a statement. By publicizing these educational and enforcement efforts, the Manhattan Beach Police Department believes that drinking and driving and driving while unlicensed will be reduced.
