Colonial Pipeline update: Gasoline shortages developing; diesel issues less clear

A day after Colonial Pipeline said there was light at the end of the tunnel for the line’s closure due to a cyberattack, the impact of the shutdown on the ground is being felt.
Specifically, there are widespread reports of stations running out of gasoline, along with social media pictures of both lines of cars seeking to buy gasoline and bags covering fuel pumps to drive home the point that they’re out of fuel.

A tidal wave of demand could be headed to a trucking segment that s the least capable of absorbing it.
A summer travel season that s expected to be defined by revenge vacations – people hitting the highways en masse following nearly a year stuck at home under pandemic restrictions – is expected to bring with it a surging demand for fuel, yet liquid bulk haulers already have more to haul than drivers to pull it.

A summer travel season that s expected to be defined by revenge vacations – people hitting the highways en masse following nearly a year stuck at home under pandemic restrictions – is expected to bring with it a surging demand for fuel, yet liquid bulk haulers already have more to haul than drivers to pull it.
Steve Rush, past-chairman of the National Tank Truck Carriers association and CEO of Whartron, New Jersey-based lubricant base oil petroleum product hauler Carbon Express, said the driver shortage is not perceived. It is real. Liquid bulk shipments are on average out two weeks right now with no immediate relief in sight.
No matter what happens at the polls, the seven-member panel will look much different in 2022.
However, only one of City Council’s current members whose seat is on the ballot, Democrat Liz Allen, chose to seek re-election.
Besides Allen, a former reporter and editor at the Erie Times-News who was first elected to City Council in 2017, the other Democrats on the ballot are Jasmine Flores; Elspeth “Kate” Koehle; Kendrick Tate; Cory DiLoreto; Marcus P. Yuille; Maurice “Mo” Troop; and Chuck Nelson, a pastor who lives in the city’s west bayfront.
Flores, Koehle and Tate are running as a slate affiliated with local social justice group Erie County United.
