USAMRIID Tests Show BioFlash Can Detect SARS-CoV-2 in the Air
(22 Feb 2021) Tests conducted by the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) have shown that Smiths Detection s BioFlash Biological Identifier is capable of detecting SARS-CoV-2 in the air.
The tests were performed using live SARS-CoV-2 virus in a Biosafety Level 3 containment area at Fort Detrick, Maryland.
The SARS-CoV-2 CANARY biosensor used in the BioFlash device demonstrated that it can quickly detect and identify the presence of low levels of aerosolized SARS-CoV-2.

British Airways Partners Dettol
(22 Feb 2021) British Airways has partnered with Dettol as part of its ongoing commitment to help keep customers and colleagues safe.
At London Heathrow Terminal 5, Dettol hand sanitiser stations will be positioned at all check-in desks, self-service bag drop, lounges and at departure gates, replacing the current sanitisation stations with Dettol products.
The airline will use Dettol antibacterial wipes, cleaners and sprays to keep surfaces clean at the airport and in its lounges.
British Airways will also give each customer a packet containing a Dettol antibacterial hygiene wipe as they board the aircraft.

Boeing Recommends Airlines Ground 777s Powered by PW4000-112 Engines
(22 Feb 2021) Boeing has recommended airlines suspend operations of the 69 in-service and 59 in-storage 777 aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 engines.
The advice comes after United Airlines flight UA328 (reg: N772UA) had to make an emergency landing at Denver Int. Airport on Saturday after one of its two engines experienced an uncontained failure.
United Airlines is the only US airline to operate the Boeing 777 with Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 engines.
Korean Air, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have said that they have grounded their Boeing 777s which use the same engines.
Qantas to Expand Pilot Training Facilities in Australia
(22 Feb 2021) Qantas has unveiled plans to expand its pilot training facilities in Australia, moving flight simulators and training pilots in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
The relocation has been triggered by the need for Qantas to move its current simulator centre from Mascot in Sydney to make way for a major roads project.
The relocation will see Qantas, with support from the Queensland Government, build a new flight training centre at Brisbane Airport. Construction is expected to begin in March, with the first pilots due to commence training there from November 2021.

United Airlines to Launch Flights Between Boston and London Heathrow
(19 Feb 2021) United Airlines has unveiled plans to launch nonstop flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and London Heathrow (LHR).
United plans to operate the route with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft configured with 46 United Polaris Business Class seats, 22 United Premium Plus seats, 43 United Economy Plus seats and 56 United Economy seats.
