HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve will reopen Saturday after crews finished repairing a sewage pump.
Officials discovered the malfunctioning pump Tuesday evening.
The malfunctioning pump serves all of the nature preserve’s bathroom facilities.
City crews and a contractor worked Wednesday to troubleshoot the issue, but were unable to verify the cause of the failure. Heavy equipment was brought in Thursday to help fix the pump.

The Black Management Forum has called for the suspension of embattled Eskom group chief executive officer Andre de Ruyter.
De Ruyter, who has been the parastatal s CEO since January 15 2020, is facing allegations of racism, which were levelled against him by suspended chief procurement officer Solly Tshitangano.
Tshitangano alleges that De Ruyter has been purging black suppliers. However, De Ruyter has in media interviews denied the allegations.
