Carlos Alcaraz is following in fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal s footsteps.
The 18-year-old Alcaraz became the youngest man to reach the third round at the French Open since 1992, and the youngest to make the third round at a Grand Slam since Nadal at the Australian Open in 2004. Nadal also made the third round at Wimbledon in 2003.
Alcaraz, a qualifier ranked 97th, advanced by beating No. 28-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

Djokovic ready to go deep at Roland Garros after reaching last 32

Novak Djokovic said he was ready to go deep at the French Open after he continued his bid for a 19th Grand Slam title with a straight-sets win over Uruguay s Pablo Cuevas to reach the third round on Thursday. Hopefully that s going to be the case, but I ll take it match by match, and so far the two matches that I have played have been played on a high quality.
Cuevas tested Djokovic at times on Thursday with his creative shot-making, but the Serbian star saved eight of nine break points and hit 31 winners in a solid display.
