ANTARA/HO Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The Nemangkawi Task Force declared on Wednesday that nine armed Papuan separatist terrorists were killed in a shootout erupting near their Olenski hideout in Makki Village, Ilaga Utara Sub-district, Puncak District, Papua Province, on Tuesday. According to the reports we received, nine members of the armed group got killed in the gunfight, Nemangkawi Task Force spokesperson Sen. Coms. Iqbal Al Qupdusy remarked.
The task force personnel had yet to identify the dead separatist terrorists but they belong to the Lekagak Telenggen armed group operating in the Ilaga area, he noted.

An Indonesian police officer and five Papuan independence fighters were killed in an ongoing clash between security forces and a rebel group in restive Papua Province, authorities said yesterday.
The clashes began early this month in Indonesia’s Papua Province after rebels set fire to schools and shot to death two teachers in Puncak district’s Beoga village.
Police, military and intelligence forces joined together to find the attackers, who authorities believe belong to the West Papua Liberation Army, the military wing of the Free Papua Organization.
