MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The sun was out Friday and the snow started melting, but roads are still far from ideal in Memphis.
Memphis Public Works Director Robert Knecht gave an update on the cityâs response Friday, saying crews have plowed more than 800 miles of major roads in Memphis.
Now the challenge is clearing more than 6,000 miles of minor connector streets.
Knecht says the cityâs 14 plows are working their way onto side streets now that the sun is finally hitting the pavement. He says itâs making the snow easier to move too, but there are challenges for smaller streets still smothered in snow.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock Texas Department of Transportation crews will begin pushing snow off Loop 289, Spur 327 and I-27 Thursday morning.
Work on Loop 289 is expected to start around 9:15 a.m. Drivers should expect slow moving operations and delays.
The convoy will start on the South Loop westbound lanes and continue to the North Loop before heading back south and onto eastbound South Loop.
