NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) Connecticut officials estimate it will cost a total of $235.5 million to transform the New London State Pier facility into a hub for the offshore wind industry.
Office of Policy and Management Deputy Secretary Konstantinos Diamantis said that figure includes $204 million for construction and $31 million for “soft costs.” The state of Connecticut is expected to finance a majority of the project, with $75 million coming from private sector funds, according to documents from the State Bond Commission.
On Friday, the commission approved a portion of the funding, $55 million in state borrowing, needed to redevelop and upgrade the pier. Connecticut Port Authority Executive Director John Henshaw told The Day of New London the release of those funds will enable work that s already permitted to begin.
