Striker Kwame Opoku was named in the Kotoko starting XI, despite media rumours of having signed a four-year deal with Algerian side USM Alger.
Faisal talisman Kwame Peprah, who has been linked to Hearts of Oak and Kotoko as potential replacements for Opoku, unsurprisingly led his outfit.
Whereas Opoku came into the game with six goals to his name, Peprah boasted nine strikes.
Augustine Okrah was the earliest to go close to finding the back of the net, his free-kick going just wide in the third minute.
A minute later at the other end, Faisal similarly replied with a Richard Wiafe free-kick which struck the upright.

GFA Match Review Panel has banned two referees
The GFA Match Review Panel has announced three decisions on complaints received from Clubs in the ongoing league competitions.
Below are the decisions:
BECHEM UNITED VS. ELEVEN WONDERS (MATCHDAY 11)
Eleven Wonders complained that in the 2nd and 76th minute of the match, the referee ignored a ball that hit the hand of Bechem United player other fouls committed by an Eleven Wonders player.
Also, they complained about decisions taken by Referee Eric Owusu Prempeh in the 82nd and 83rd minutes in favour of Bechem United.
After watching the match video, the Panel observed that there was no handball incident. The ball hit the hand when the hand was on the body of the player.
The 21-year-old bagged one Man of the Match award in the month
Karela United goal-poacher Diawise Taylor has been named Player of the Month after an impressive run in January.
The Premier League’s top scorer netted five of his nine goals in the month to win the award in January, beating of competition from ex-WAFA forward Daniel Lomotey, James Bissue of Elmina Sharks and Maxwell Abbey of Great Olympics.
Taylor scored in Karela’s 3-1 win against Elmina Sharks, and was also on target in the 3-1 defeat to Eleven Wonders, before bagging a brace in against Berekum Chelsea.
