Last May, when Connor Hitchcock decided to start a fundraiser for some out-of-work friends, he had modest expectations. Hitchcock and his wife, Christa, run Homefield Apparel, which licenses old collegiate sports logos to make vintage-inspired T-shirts and sweatshirts. They wanted to help out a handful of writers who had recently been furloughed from Vox Media’s college-football website, Banner Society. The couple drew up some designs based on inside jokes from the site’s two podcasts. Hitchcock didn’t tell the writers what he was up to. “I thought maybe we could raise $2,000 and help them buy some groceries,” he told me.

The Kansas Jayhawks and head coach Les Miles agreed to part ways this week.
That means Kansas has an open head coaching gig. Per Athlon Sports, among the best guys for the gig is recently fired Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman, who’s currently an offensive analyst in the NFL for the Chicago Bears.
“While Herman’s tenure didn’t work out at Texas, he’s due for another chance to be a head coach in college football,” Athlon Sports writes.

Oklahoma State basketball is in a pickle, per 247Sports. As is the NCAA.
As it stands, the Cowboys are eligible to participate in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The only thing that might change that is if the NCAA moves to rule Oklahoma State ineligible for the postseason, a ban that dates back former assistant Lamont Evans allegedly taking $22,000 in bribe money. In all, it’s a total mess – on the both the NCAA’s side and out in Stillwater.
“It’s a clear case of the NCAA Committee on Infractions over-punishing Oklahoma State because of the actions of one person,” said ESPN analyst Jay Bilas during Oklahoma State’s road game at No. 3 Baylor Thursday. “South Carolina had the same issue with [Lamont Evans] and they got two years of probation.
