Earlier in the night, the Indiana Pacersmoved up to 31st by trading their two second rounders tonight along with a pair of future seconds. That pick didn’t stay put for long, as they used it to move into the first round, 22nd to be exact, selecting Kentucky freshman Isaiah Jackson. The pick, originally belonging to the Los Angeles Lakers, was sent to the Washington Wizards following their trade of Russell Westbrook, also earlier in the night.
In addition to the pick swapping, the Pacers are also sending Aaron Holiday to the Wizards, moving on from their former first round pick after a frustrating 2020-21 season. Holiday never quite found a role that fit him with the Pacers, falling behind T.J. McConnell as the backup point guard.

The Detroit Pistons selected Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft Thursday night.
Cunningham had been widely expected to be the first name called in New York, though Pistons general manager Troy Weaver wouldn’t reveal plans earlier this week and said the team would look at every scenario, including trades.
In the end, Detroit stuck with the 19-year-old mentioned as a potential top pick before ever stepping foot on the Oklahoma State campus.
NBA to celebrate 75th anniversary next season by naming 75 greatest players in league history
The NBA will celebrate its 75th anniversary season during the 2021-22 campaign by commemorating it as NBA 75 and naming a list of the league s 75 greatest players, commissioner Adam Silver announced at the start of the 2021 draft on Thursday. Cade Cunningham sure looked like the No. 1 overall draft pick all year at Oklahoma State with his fluid game, scoring ability and passing all in a 6-foot-8 frame.
So it was no surprise the Detroit Pistons would grab the freshman All-American with the top pick as they did to open the draft Thursday night in New York. And it was the start of multiple teams spending high picks on playmakers with size, including Florida State forward Scottie Barnes and Australian teenager Josh Giddey climbing a bit higher than expected as top-six picks.
