Sam Walsh is playing just his third season in the AFL.
This week on the Real Footy podcast, Michael Gleeson, Jake Niall and Greg Baum discuss the Blues and their young star, arguing that he has to be a contender for the Brownlow Medal this season.
And after a tough couple of weeks the Blues answered some of their critics by beating the Dons. Harry McKay has been a big contributor up forward, kicking five goals again in round seven. McKayâs contract is up at the end of the season, and though there may be some back and forth about the terms of his contract, there is good news for Blues fans: not only is he doing his negotiating on the field, there donât seem to be offers coming from other clubs.

It was a big round of footy and there were important storylines out of all nine games.
We have selected one positive and one negative from every club’s Round 7 performance.
See our thoughts below:
Positive: Enough entries
There isn’t much to get excited about after a 67-point loss but at least the Crows got enough ball forward.
They finished with 52 inside 50 entries which in comparison to GWS’ 58 was not a complete write-off.
A scoring efficiency of 46.2% is not ideal and a total score of 4.15.(39) is not what you wish for but Matthew Nicks can be somewhat pleased that they had some looks in attack.

Despite coming into the game as short favourites, the Demons trailed a gallant North Melbourne by 19 points seven minutes into the third quarter before the tide turned.

Subscriber only Jake Lever s evolution into an All-Australian-calibre defender isn t all Melbourne envisioned when it exchanged two first-round picks for him four years ago. The 25-year-old, who underwent a second knee reconstruction three years ago, has since signed an extension until 2024 and been a key part of why the Demons are unbeaten. Lever s career-best numbers even suggest those comparisons to Richmond s former five-time All-Australian backman are worth discussing again. Â
