NH new best practices for business opening released A third of residents are fully vaccinated;

CONCORD – A third of the state’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and half of the state’s residents have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to Beth Daley, chief of the state’s Bureau of Infectious Disease Control. Speaking during Gov. Chris Sununu’s weekly coronavirus update Thursday, Daley said 687,000 people have received a first dose and 446,000 residents are fully vaccinated. The state has administered 1,093,000 vaccine doses. Daley said 60% of the state’s residents have made the decision to get vaccinated, by either having made an appointment to get vaccinated or already having gotten at least one dose.

Cheshire Fair hosting 3-day agricultural event Update: Friday, April 30, 7:24 a.m. The Cheshire Fair will return this August, but as a smaller three-day agricultural event. It was one of several iconic New Hampshire fairs that took last summer off due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event scheduled for Aug. 6-8 will feature many of the traditional fair events, including horse and ox pulls, open farm animal shows, and truck and tractor pulls, according to the fair s announcement yesterday. The midway, however, will be missing from the 2021 Cheshire Fair. The organizers say they are still working on plans to ensure public safety, in concert with public health advisories for the pandemic.

New Hampshire is not developing or requiring “vaccine passports, documents that show you were vaccinated against COVID-19, but a proposed legislative measure would prohibit state government from requiring people to receive the vaccine. The measure also would prohibit the state from entering into any contract or distributing taxpayer money to any business that would require a so-called passport, or would in any way discriminate against someone who refuses to receive the vaccine. “Vaccine passports could discriminate against people flying, traveling, trying to get a job, or even something as simple as going to the supermarket, Rep. Tim Baxter, R-Seabrook, its sponsor, testified before the House Committee on Executive Departments and Administration on Tuesday.
