Orphaned Baby Chimpanzee Recovers After Falling From Tree as Mom Was Killed by Poachers
An injured baby chimpanzee has been given a second chance at life after being orphaned by the poachers that killed her mother. It is believed that the infant was destined for illegal pet trade and her mother was likely killed for bushmeat.
A ranger at Sapo National Park in the Liberian rainforest of West Africa rushed to investigate after hearing shots fired. It was too late to help the mother, but the infant chimpanzee, which sustained injuries on her face and head due to falling from a tree, was rescued.

10 armed Papuans torched MAF plane, American pilot tells police 8th January 2021

(ANTARA/Evarianus Supar) Timika, Papua (ANTARA) - American pilot Alek Luferchek has told Papuan police officers that his Quest Kodiak aircraft was torched by around 10 armed men near the Pagamba village airstrip in Intan Jaya district on January 6, 2021.
Luferchek said the men, who were carrying assault rifles and guns, suddenly emerged from some bushes soon after he landed the aircraft belonging to the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) around 9.30 a.m. local time, Papua police chief, Insp.Gen.Paulus Waterpauw, informed journalists here on Friday.
