Jonaki Mehta is a producer for
All Things Considered. Before ATC, she worked at Neon Hum Media where she produced a documentary series and talk show. Prior to that, Mehta was a producer at Member station KPCC and director/associate producer at
Marketplace Morning Report, where she helped shape the morning s business news.
Mehta s first job in radio was at NPR West as a National Desk intern. Her career really began when she was nine years old and insisted that the local county paper give Mehta her very own column. (She didn t get the job, but her very patient mother did somehow get her a meeting with the editor-in-chief.) Outside of work, she loves making recipes with harvests from her vegetable garden and riding her motorcycle around L.A.

San Francisco school board REVERSES its cancel culture decision to rename 44 schools that were named after historic figures including Lincoln, Washington and Jefferson
The city s Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to formally suspend its plan to strip the names of a third of San Francisco s public schools
Board said names honored figures linked to racism, sexism and other injustices
Among them were schools named for presidents Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and longtime Sen. Dianne Feinstein
The board now said it was reversing the vote to avoid frivolous litigation after being sued for violating the state’s open meeting law with its initial decision

Jorge Mancera works at the Mission High School San Francisco Unified School District Student Nutrition Services pantry. According to the April 2021 schedule, that site gives out five days worth of meals on Tuesdays and two days worth of meals on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Five-day bags are available only for SFUSD students and siblings; two-day bags are available for all children 18 and under.
