Following the recent posting of an ill-advised headline on a local media webpage, many area residents have expressed concern regarding the “proposed” demotion of the Armory on Ottawa’s Main Street. “We are, at this point in time, not even contemplating tearing down the building,” Commissioner Mike Lammers stated on Tuesday. “It’s obviously a historical landmark.” Built in 1918 during World War I, the over 100 year old armory served a specific purpose through four wars: WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

Avangrid Renewables, the American arm of the multinational energy company Iberdrola, first expressed interest in establishing the project in the Miller City area in late 2018.
