Commissioners asserts it has no plans to demolish an Ottawa landmark.
Following
the recent posting of an ill-advised headline on a local media webpage,
many area residents have expressed concern regarding the “proposed”
demotion of the Armory on Ottawa’s Main Street.
“We are, at this
point in time, not even contemplating tearing down the building,”
Commissioner Mike Lammers stated on Tuesday. “It’s obviously a
historical landmark.”
Built in 1918 during World War I, the over 100 year old armory served a specific purpose through four wars: WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

CITY/PUTNAM COUNTY Momentum on the construction of a 1,300 acre solar
farm within Miller City village limits has increased to the point where
the Putnam County Commissioners Office considers it a virtual
certainty.
Avangrid Renewables, the American arm of the
multinational energy company Iberdrola, first expressed interest in
establishing the project in the Miller City area in late 2018. Public
conversations were held with area landholders, and with officials from
Miller City and the county. In mid-October of last year, following
lengthy negotiations, the Board of Commissioners came to an agreement
