LONDON, ONT. A northeast London fire that caused traffic delays along a portion of Adelaide Street North is being treated as suspicious. Five engines and 30 firefighters were called to the intersection of Adelaide Street and Windermere Road at about 5:30 am. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a former residential property. The vacant structure is across the road from the Waltzing Weasel restaurant; however, the restaurant has not been affected. The property also sits in front of one of the original locations of the GoodLife fitness chain. London Fire Dept. Platoon Chief, Colin Shewell, says crews quickly determined the blaze was “too dangerous” for firefighters to enter.
A Saturday morning fire caused extensive damage to an office building in Downtown Moncton.
According to Platoon Chief Brian McDonald, The Moncton Fire department responded to a report of an automatic fire alarm in a building located at 171 Lutz Street around 9 a.m.
Teams from four of the city’s five fire stations worked tirelessly to put out a fire found on the building’s first floor. After successfully extinguishing the fire found on the first level, firefighters discovered that the flames had extended into the ceilings, floors and walls of the second floor.
MFD conducted an extensive overhaul that required firefighters to tear open the ceilings, floors and walls in order to successfully extinguish the fire.
