Veterans Memorial Plaza s annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at 5191 Willing St., Milton, in remembrance of the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving our country.
The plaza s ceremony activities are as follows:
Introductions: Don Salter, Santa Rosa County Veterans Memorial Foundation
Presentation of the colors: Milton High School ROTC
Invocation: Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Joe Orren
National anthem: Oaklee Riley, Milton High School graduate and University of Mobile student
Proclamations: Milton Mayor Heather Lindsey and Santa Rosa County District 2 Commissioner Bob Cole
Introduction of speakers: Don Salter
18 MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. - U.S. Air Force staff and faculty assigned to the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee learned emergency response skills, mid-May, to help ensure safe and prepared classrooms as on-campus attendance increases.
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Kirk Lewellyn and Master Sgt. John Champion, training managers assigned to the 134th Security Forces Squadron, instructed TEC’s Airmen in life-saving skills. The security forces sergeants also trained the team on active shooter response.
On-campus classes are increasing at a steady rate, including the return of in-residence Airman Leadership School in June after enlisted professional military education moved to virtual lessons during the pandemic in 2020.

Air Force Brig. Gen. I.G. Brown presents the NCO academy diploma to Tech. Sgt. G.M. Matsuguma, Class 69-D, from Hawaii during the graduation ceremony on McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in East Tennessee.
