LAHORE:A meeting chaired by Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday discussed a proposal to procure oxygen concentrators and generators for hospitals for uninterrupted supply of oxygen for corona patients.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of SOPs to prevent virus, vaccination process, healthcare facilities for corona patients and measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen in hospitals.
Addressing the meeting, the health minister said the Punjab government was taking all possible steps to provide best treatment facilities to the corona patients and control the pandemic. She said that HDU beds in Expo Centre have been made functional as a backup after the increase in corona patients in hospitals. She said beds have also been allocated for free treatment of corona patients in private teaching hospitals. On Tuesday (4 May), it was announced that the merger between major brokerage Aussie and online loan platform Lendi had officially finalised, with the Lendi Group coming into being.
Speaking to The Adviser following the merger, the CEO of the newly merged group, David Hyman, revealed that while the ACCC had greenlit the merger in March, the transaction only completed at 2.30pm on Monday afternoon (3 May).

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has approved two ordinances as part of electoral reforms one enables the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) in polls, while the other empowers the electoral body to take steps to give Pakistani expatriates the right to franchise.
The decisions were detailed by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry in a post-cabinet meeting press briefing on Tuesday.
According to state-run Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry said the government’s electoral reforms consist of four parts electronic voting machines (EVMs), e-voting for overseas Pakistanis, biometric and legislation. He said the EVMs policy had been developed and the government had unveiled its legislation agenda for the purpose. He said work was under way on biometric and E-voting.
CM orders strict steps as Karachi’s District East reports 22pc positive cases

KARACHI: Covid-19 positivity has reached 22 per cent in District East of Karachi, followed by Hyderabad where the detection rate has soared to 19 per cent, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Monday, and directed the district administrations to take strict measures to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in both the districts.
Presiding over a meeting of the Covid-19 Task Force at the CM House, he observed that during the last seven days, the virus had hit new highs in Karachi East, where the detection rate had reached 22 per cent, Hyderabad 19 per cent, District South 13 per cent and District Central 10 per cent.
