By: Anjelicia Bruton OKLAHOMA CITY - For the first time in more than 30 years, the Crystal Bridge Conservatory is about to undergo a major facelift. The renovations will cost nearly $10 million. “It needs a little updating. Some of the infrastructure is aging and needs replacing, so we thought let s take this opportunity and think big and really make an even better crystal bridge,” Myriad Botanical Garden president and CEO Maureen Heffernan said. Heffernan said the design team has been working on this for the past two years. The conservatory will feature more colorful plants and will improve the accessibility for people with disabilities and educational resources.

The Skydance Bridge at Scissortail Park and the Crystal Bridge at the Myriad Gardens are going to be lit purple Sunday night in honor of crime victims in Oklahoma.“There’s always going to be, unfortunately, new crime victims that are going to be impacted, and we want to make sure that there’s information and educational resources available for them,” said Kim Moyer, the state director of Marsy’s Law.Marsy’s Law, which passed in 2018, ensures accountability measures are in place for crime victims. The law guarantees them their rights and allows them to be heard.Since the law passed, Moyer’s group has advocated for and worked with crime victims in Oklahoma, raising awareness on the daily challenges they face, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.“We’re seeing that cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, some homicide actually are up, our partners are reporting,” Moyer said. “So, that makes it very difficult when crime victims are isolated.”Moy

Safdie Architects to Design Major Crystal Bridges Expansion

Courtesy of Safdie Architects Ten years after completing the original design for the museum, Safdie Architects has returned to create new structures housing additional galleries, educational facilities, event spaces, a café, and new indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. “It has been a joy to see Crystal Bridges’ enthusiastic reception by the public.
