A 35-year-old man, Umaru Jibrin, has stabbed the Chief Imam of Enagi town in Niger state, Alhaji Attahiru Alhassan, to death for allegedly having sexual relationship with his second wife, Aisha Umar.
Jubrin was said to have caught the Chief Imam and his wife in bed at a neighbour’s house.
The suspect, who was paraded at the police headquarters in Minna on Tuesday, said on the day he caught the deceased and his wife, Alhassan had walked past him into a neighbour’s house.
The Chief Imam of Enagi town, Alhaji Attahiru Alhassan, has been stabbed to death for allegedly having a sexual relationship with the second wife of one Umaru Jubrin.
Jubrin, 35, was said to have caught the Chief Imam who was 48 years old and his wife in bed at a neighbour’s house.
Jubrin was paraded at the police headquarters in Minna, the state capital, on Tuesday, where he narrated what transpired on the day he caught the Imam and his wife together.
He added that the deceased walked past him into a neighbour’s house, where his wife had earlier told him she was going to a toilet behind the compound.

Jibrin claims that he caught the 48-year old Islamic cleric, Alhaji Attahiru Alhassan, in the act and stabbed him in the neck when he called him for a peace talk.
He was however arrested by the Police in the state.
Narrating what happened to newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Minna, Jibrin said, “When I saw him on top of my wife, I said haba Imam why must you do this to me? Aisha my wife what are you looking for?”

The Police Command in Niger has arrested Umar Jibril, for allegedly killing a cleric he claimed was his wife’s lover.
Mr Jibril, a resident of Enagi village, in Edati Local Government of the state, was arrested on Tuesday, according to Adamu Usman, the Niger Police commissioner.
Mr Usman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna that the suspect was arrested on Monday, April 12, “at about 0100 hours, based on credible information”.

Six governors in the North have joined hands to wage total war against banditry in their territories.
