TomCast Podcast: Illinois Film Tax Credit w/Jack Lavin, President and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce

In 2019, prior to COVID-19, the film industry created  $560 million for the state and over 15,000 jobs. When production resumed last year, it brought thousands of jobs back to hurting industries. Production and film studios find Chicago and the state so appealing because of the FTC incentive. Jobs in Chicago and the state of Illinois depend on enhancing the FTC incentive–not by ending it. Some lawmakers want to end so-called business incentives. However, Governor Priztker just recently extendend an agreement for Lion Electric Company, an innovative manufacturer of zero-emission vehicles, to build a plant in Joliet with nearly $8 million in tax breaks if certain criteria are met.

Steelers Vertex: Examining the depth on the defensive line - Behind the Steel Curtain

Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images There are some positions the Steelers are likely to completely pass over in the 2021 NFL draft. One such position is the interior defensive line. While some so-called “experts” might still mock players to the Steelers high in the draft, Steelers’ Nation knows better. It also doesn’t help that defensive tackle is not a position of strength in the draft this year. Random quote from a top decision maker on the 2021 NFL Draft: “This is the worst defensive tackle draft I’ve ever seen.” There could still be one or even two in the first round. Let’s get a quick reminder of where this nerdiness is coming from. Vertex- a single point where two or more lines cross. Sometimes to make a great point, it takes two different systems of analysis to come together and build off each other in order to drawl a proper conclusion. In this case, the two methods are statistical analysis and film breakdown. Enter Dave Schofield (the stat geek) and Geoffrey Benedict (the film guru) to come together to prove a single

Steelers Vertex: Will Layne or Pierre be higher on the CB depth chart?

Photo by David Rosenblum/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images The Steelers have seen some big changes in their cornerback room since the end of the 2020 season. With the departures of Mike Hilton and Steven Nelson, it appears as if Joe Haden and Cameron Sutton will begin training camp as the two starters on the outside. Of course, the 2021 NFL draft could change things, but for now we can only look at the players on the roster. It is believed that Cam Sutton would play on the outside in the Steelers base defense, but slide in to take the slot corner responisiblites when the Steelers go into their subpackage defense. If this is indeed the case, the Steelers currently have options of Justin Layne and James Pierre to fill the spot on the outside.
