Police dog sniffed out drugs at every traffic stop

A drug sniffing police dog in Washington indicated narcotics were inside 100 percent of the vehicles it sniffed, but police found drugs in just 29 percent of them. Karma, a K-9 with the since-dissolved Republic Police Department operating near Washington state s border with Canada, would give the signal to police officers that every vehicle he sniffed was carrying drugs. The signal - Karma sitting down when his police handler pointed to a vehicle s rear panel with the palm of their hand - would be given regardless of whether the driver possessed illegal narcotics or not.  By doing so, Karma essentially gave officers probable cause to search and seize every vehicle he sniffed, undercutting constitutional guarantees of due process.

95 Reasons to Please, Please, Please get Vaccinated

Reason 56: Take a vax selfie, rake in the Instagram likes. We ve spent a year trapped in a nightmare. We ve seen a half-million people die in the U.S. We ve watched the places we ve loved boarded up and bankrupted. We ve gone crazy inside locked down, shut in and fed up. And we ve watched the world go crazy outside a soaring murder rate, riots, insurrection and Instagram videos of people screaming at Walmart greeters about masks. While the U.S. overall was experiencing a significant decrease in new COVID-19 cases, and once-troubled California dropped to the lowest case rate in the nation, two Pacific Northwest states took an abrupt turn in the other direction. It wasn t subtle. In Oregon, weekly case counts of the virus more than doubled in a month, going from a seven-day rolling average of 419 on April 1 to 861 on May 1, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Washington state, meanwhile, saw its seven-day average shoot from 784 on March 22 to 1,405 just a month later.
