Who is John J Lennon?
Lennon while being the namesake of The Beatles frontman has led a thoroughly different life. Growing up in Hellâs Kitchen, on the west side of midtown Manhattan, Lennon had a rough childhood and gravitated toward violence. Moving in and out of juvie homes, Lennonâs early life was full of crime. And drugs. âI had plenty of opportunities and I squandered them all,â Lennon said once. âI went looking for this lifestyle and unfortunately I got everything it had to offer.â
In 2001, when Lennon was 24, he heard about a man who had been shaking down one of his dealers. What he did next changed his life forever. He lured the man into a rental car and shot him several times with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. He then drove down to a pier and dumped the manâs body and a couple of cinderblocks, into the bay.
Interview with Luca DiMatteo: Author of Green Haven
INTERVIEW
by Jhon Sanchez
Even though I met Luca two or three years ago, it seems that it has been for a longer time. My friend Justin Sight, the magician, kept talking about Luca’s spiritual search and good sense of humor. Luca, a doctor himself, decided to dedicate his life to writing, and in that sense, his life path is similar to mine.
I want to have a conversation about Luca’s life, motivations, views, and spiritual life, and of course, about his first novel Green Haven, a mystery set in a nursing home.
WATERTOWN â Thereâs no doubt that corrections personnel throughout the stateâs penal system confront an uphill battle in keeping contraband from reaching inmates.
Drugs and weapons continue to find their way into prisons. A news item published March 25 in the Watertown Daily Times reported the following about an incident at the Cape Vincent Correctional Facility:
âThe New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association said in a statement [March 24] that on March 9, an officer observed an inmate unsteady on his feet in the prisonâs recreation yard. The inmate was brought to the infirmary for evaluation where the inmate allegedly reached into his pant pockets and pulled out an unknown object, which he swallowed. According to the union, officers frisked the inmate and found two Suboxone strips [used to treat opioid addiction] in his possession. Medical staff determined the inmate was under the influence of drugs, the union said.
