Independent News Briefs, May 26 Independent News Briefs, May 26 Councilman Brett Cannon said the agreement with Hazlet was in place for a number of years. “The agreement came up and it was talked about a number of times … we share a school district with our sister town Aberdeen, we share sports linked with our sister town, and we have other shared services agreements with Aberdeen, and it just didn’t make much sense to continue to work with Hazlet, especially with costs that were not saving the taxpayers any kind of money,” Cannon said. “With this agreement, anyone who is issued a ticket in Matawan will have their case heard in the Aberdeen Township municipal court,” he said.

Atlantic Hub News Briefs, May 26 - centraljersey com

Atlantic Hub News Briefs, May 26 Atlantic Hub News Briefs, May 26 The Eatontown Borough Council has adopted an ordinance which creates a four-way stop at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and South Street. Previously, the intersection had one stop sign on the eastern Clinton Avenue side. The four-way intersection is in a residential neighborhood and both streets are connected to Route 35. The eastern Clinton Avenue side with the original stop sign is accessed through a traffic light on the state highway. A resolution passed by the council states the action will enhance the safety of the intersection. Prior to the ordinance’s adoption, Daniel Guthrie, a retired captain with the Eatontown Police Department, said he did not believe a four-way stop would increase safety at the intersection.

Summer music: Socially distant concert venues at NJ beaches

Yes, it’s a pandemic – but music is playing somewhere at the Jersey Shore. Fans must be masked, except when eating or drinking, and they have to be socially distanced and seated. Starting Wednesday, May 19,  the capacity for indoor shows is expanding to 100 percent, but individuals or groups of people must remain six feet apart, according to the state. The capacity limit for outdoor shows is being removed on May 19, but individuals or groups of people still must remain 6 feet apart. As of press time, the big concert venues at the Jersey Shore – including PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel and The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park – are not hosting shows. That could change if the pandemic subsides and restrictions loosen. Then it would be time for a really big party.
