Volunteer opportunities in RI, week of Feb. 21
The Providence Journal
No matter your specialty or previous experience, if you’re looking to donate your time to help others, organizations across Rhode Island need volunteer assistance.
United Way of R.I. invites all to participate in its 21 Day Equity Challenge with the goal of understanding how inequity and racism affect our lives, our communities and our state’s ability to thrive. Sign up online to commit 15 minutes a day, and beginning Feb. 24, you’ll receive an email about a topic to read, watch or listen about. The challenge is self-guided and done at each person’s own pace. You may also sign up after Feb. 24 and begin the 21-day journey then. For questions, contact Janice Pothier-Pac at janice.pothierpac@unitedwayri.org, or (401) 444-0634.

At the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, the administration is challenging students to an equity mission.
According to an email obtained by The Daily Wire and in concert with Black History Month UWP’s offering the “opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect our lives and communities.”
The program began February 1st and will conclude June 21st.
Per the message, “Weekly topics take participants through a journey that starts with understanding internalized racism and explores how racism permeates person-to-person interactions, institutions, and social structures.”
Further explanation indicates it’s “intended to deepen understanding, suggest ways to take action, and help launch what we hope will be a lifelong commitment to improving equity and inclusion in our communities.”
