UNIBATOR connects world top tech giants google, facebook, microsoft 581 DHAKA, Feb 13, 2021 (BSS) – Representatives of world’s top tech giants including google, facebook and Microsoft have joined virtually the guest sessions and panel discussions of a four-day Unibator Mentor Development Camp, an initiative to build startup mentors. Participants of the camp hoped the initiative would play a crucial role to the development of startup ecosystem in Bangladesh as representatives of world’s top technological companies as well as officials of government’s policymaking level are joining it and giving suggestions. Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator Project, CUET under Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) and Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) arranged the camp, first of its kind in Bangladesh, at IEB Dhaka centre with the participation of university level teachers.

Unibator programme draws huge response from youths 407 DHAKA, Feb 12, 2021 (BSS) – Unibator, a programme that hopes to bring a change in the thinking process of educational institutions and upcoming graduate-level students regarding the thesis and academic projects, is attracting huge response from youths. “Initiated by the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) and Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), the programme aims to turn all the innovative ideas of any university-level student to business through proper guidance. The students can take part in the programme with their thesis, projects or assignments. We would select 10 best innovative ideas from these thesis or project papers and after month-long incubation to turn them into product or service, we would make them world-class companies,” Engineer Kazi Khairul Bashar, honorary secretary of IEB Dhaka center, told BSS.

ADP review meeting of ICT dept held BSS 8th February, 2021 08:28:32 The Annual Development Program (ADP) Implementation review meeting of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department for the financial year 2020-21 was held today virtually. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak presided over the meeting while Senior Secretary of ICT Division NM Ziaul Alam, heads of ICT Department, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Bangladesh Computer Council and Department of Information and Communication Technology and other project managers attended it, a press release said on Monday. The meeting discussed in details implementation plans of the projects undertaken by the ICT department in the current financial year, monthly achievements and realistic financial targets and recruitment of manpower.

Govt plans university-based tech innovation hubs University-going students aspiring to be tech-entrepreneurs are set to get a shot in the arm as the government is planning to create innovation hubs at both public and private universities to develop digital entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems. Primarily seven universities will be selected as the hubs where interested students will be shortlisted, selected and trained and then facilitated with funds and office space to start their own business. A proposal of the ICT ministry will be placed at the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for approval today. The implementing agency, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, already received names of 19 universities from the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
