20 public universities fix tentative dates for admission tests in June-July

Twenty science and technology, and general public universities are likely to hold centralised admission tests in June-July.
Three engineering universities––Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology –– have set tentative dates for their admission test on June 12.
Public universities have fixed tentative dates for holding admission tests in a meeting of Bangladesh Bishwabidyalaya Parishad, said Professor Mizanur Rahman, vice chancellor of Jagannath University and also joint convenor of the committee that is working on introducing cluster admission test at 20 public universities.

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said Myanmar has informed Dhaka about how many Rohingyas they would like to take back in the first batch of repatriation, likely to start soon.
“They (Myanmar) gave us a figure (of Rohingyas) to take back first … it’s a reasonable number (for the start)… we would like to see commencement of repartition,” he told reporters after attending a programme at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
He said the next round of tripartite director general (DG) level talks among Bangladesh, China and Myanmar to discuss about the repatriation has been scheduled in the first week of February.

Country’s newly-established public universities are facing a teacher crisis and operating without the required number of qualified teachers which is needed to impart quality higher education.
Academic activities at these institutions are being seriously hampered as their authorities have appointed only a few lecturers and hired some senior teachers and professionals as guest teachers to continue the education.
Educationists said such newly-established universities would deliver little results unless a sufficient number of qualified teachers are ensured at these universities.
