Quader hits out at BNP over corona response

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday accused Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of not carrying out any awareness campaign among people for ensuring heath guidelines to curb the spread of coronavirus.
“They (BNP) are blaming the government instead of carrying out any campaign to raise awareness among people about adhering to health guidelines,” he said.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing a press briefing virtually from his official residence on the Parliament premises in the capital.
He said when priority should be given to safeguarding the lives and livelihood of people, BNP leaders are engaged in evil politics. “Opposing everything has become BNP’s habit”. Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said the purpose of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s application seeking to take Begum Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment is not rational as she (Begum Zia) is recovering here.
“There is a political motive behind the BNP’s application. Now, question has arisen that whether the BNP leaders who are appealing to take Khaleda Zia abroad have any malicious intention behind it!,” he said.
The minister told reporters while replying to a query over making BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia minus from the politics at his official residence in city’s Mintu Road.
