The ongoing lockdown will continue till May 16 while movement of public transport inside district will be allowed to ply on the roads from May 6. But, movement of inter-district bus as well as launch and train services will remain suspended. The decision was taken today at the weekly cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The PM virtually joined the meeting, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, from her official residence Ganabhaban, local media reported.
Cabinet nods draft law for private medical, dental colleges

DHAKA, May 3, 2021 (BSS) – The cabinet today cleared the draft of Private Medical College and Dental College Act, 2021, aimed at bringing more discipline in this sector.
The approval came from the weekly cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The premier virtually joined the meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat from her official residence Ganabhaban.
While briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said a medical or dental college should have at least 50 students while its teacher-student ratio will be 1:10 as per the proposed law.
Lockdown to continue till May 16
The government has extended the ongoing lockdown till May 16 to counter the spike in coronavirus infections.
The decision was taken on Monday at the weekly cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The Prime Minister virtually joined the meeting, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, from her official residence Ganabhaban.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam briefed the reporters after the meeting.
No inter-district transport services will be allowed during the period. But the government will allow public transport to operate within cities after May 5.
Launch and train services will also remain suspended till May 16.
2nd dose of Covid-19 to be administered from April 8: CS

DHAKA, April 5, 2021 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today directed the authorities concerned to roll out the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine from next Thursday (April 8) as per preschedule.
She made the confirmation while chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.
“The Prime Minister has made it clear to follow the prefixed roll-out plan for the second dose of Covid-19 inoculation scheduled to start from April 8,” said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam while briefing reporters after the meeting.
Besides, the roll-out of the first jab of the covid-19 vaccine will conclude tomorrow (Tuesday), he said.
