3 industrial estates to set up in Rajshahi: Liton

RAJSHAHI, Dec 24, 2020 (BSS)- Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton today said present government has been striving to set up three industrial estates in Rajshahi for improving its socio-economic condition through bolstering economic activities.
He said the government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for balanced development of the country as it is very much positive towards overall development of Rajshahi’s.
The Mayor made this observation while addressing a view-sharing meeting with industrialists of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) here at the city bhaban conference hall today as chief guest.

The positive scenario has been revealed by members of a national
monitoring core committee of the Ministry of Labour and Employment after
visiting some of the silk factories here on Monday.
The committee members went round the silk manufacturing ventures and
factories like Lucky Weaving Silk Traders, Usha Silk, Sapura Silk, Adhunik
Silk Mills, Nadim Silk Industries, Khaza Ahmed Silk Industries and Rajshahi
Silk Fashion.

Around 30,000 artisans from 10 outlying villages of Bogura sadar upazila in Rajshahi are involved in making jewellery with about 66 per cent of them being women and youths who earn between Tk 500 to Tk 4,000 each week from the trade.
Around 10,000 women from Dharampur, Atapara, Fulbari, Baropur, Moglishpur, Jhopgari, Joypurpara, Shikarpur, Joytika, Ashorpur villages were involved in making cigarette filters just 15 years ago, according to local jewellery traders and makers.
