(WTVF) — The Tennessee Department of Transportation has chosen a company for the design-build contract for a new I-65 interchange at Buckner Road in Spring Hill and officials say they expect it to be completed by May of 2023. The project will extend Buckner Road from Buckner Lane to Lewisburg Pike across I-65 with a Diverging Diamond Interchange. The City of Spring Hill kickstarted the project with a $25 million BUILD grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation in late 2018.

Wed January 13, 2021 - Southeast Edition Tennesee DOT A design-build contract valued at $54.3 million has been awarded to Nashville s Bell & Associates to construct the new Interstate 65 and Buckner Road interchange in Spring Hill, Tenn. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) did so with the expectation that the project would be completed by May 2023. The design calls for the extension of Buckner Road from Buckner Lane to Lewisburg Pike across I-65 with a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). The city of Spring Hill kickstarted the project with a $25 million BUILD grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation in late 2018. The city of Spring Hill s diligence in securing this competitive grant put this interchange on the fast track, said TDOT Commissioner Clay Bright. TDOT has an aggressive schedule to meet, but the design-build contracting method allows us to tap into the innovation of the private industry and deliver the project in a much shorter timefram

Maury County schools close due to snowfall on Monday

The Daily Herald Maury County Public Schools and area private schools canceled all classes Monday due to inclement weather and dangerous road conditions that led to several motor vehicle accidents.  The snow continued to leave roadways slick into the afternoon on Monday throughout greater Middle Tennessee, according to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service. Monday afternoon, the school district announced plans to delay remote classes by two-hours on Tuesday morning due to the high probability of ice on local roads. MCPS will also be pivot all special education students still in school to remote learning on Tuesday and Wednesday with tentative plans to return on Thursday, Jan. 14.

The Daily Herald SPRING HILL  After nearly a decade of work, Spring Hill Mayor Rick Graham announced on Tuesday that the new Interstate 65 /Buckner Road project is now on track to be completed in May 2023. The Tennessee Department of Transportation awarded the project design/build contract to Bell & Associates of Nashville. The project includes the extension of Buckner Road from Buckner Lane to Lewisburg Pike. The finished project will feature diverging diamond ramps to and from the interchange. The project s momentum kickstarted in late 2018 when the city was awarded a $25 million BUILD grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
