With student now learning from home for the next couple of weeks, the Get-a-Way Youth Centre is available to children by registration during the day while schools are closed.
If parents work and need a supervised space for their child for a few hours or don’t have internet, they can book an appointment with Josh Cookson, youth program manager, at 403-485-6033 or receptionist Deanna Edwards at 485-2192, ext. 101.

The Vulcan and Region Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) cannot provide day care or any group gatherings, so appointments are necessary.

Due to COVID-19, a volunteer appreciation barbecue has been pushed back until September.
The barbecue, which usually takes place in the spring, is now scheduled to take place on Sept. 15, outside the Cultural-Recreational Centre, said Joan Petersen, executive director of the Vulcan and Region Family and Community Support Services.

The Leaders of Tomorrow youth awards will be announced at the barbecue. Starting in May, FCSS will be accepting nominations for those awards. Visit the FCSS Facebook page and website on how to nominate youth for an award.
