Nueces County Judge to appeal to State for larger quantities of vaccines

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Nueces County officials say they need more COVID-19 vaccines to adequately vaccinate residents.
During her first press conference of the new year, Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales said she s sending a letter Wednesday to the State pushing for larger quantities of the vaccines. The county s health department currently does not have any doses through local health care providers do have some supplies.
The county health department has reported triple digit figures of COVID-19 cases since the holidays began. The worst being December 31 when the Health District said 438 people were added to the totals. Only two of those were state data dumps.

NUECES COUNTY, Texas â Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales released a statement after the local health officials announced more than four hundred new COVID-19 cases.
Thursday evening, the Nueces County Public Health District reported 438 new COVID-19 cases. Judge Canales stated the the number of the new cases is troubling news. We are analyzing the data to see if we need to take actions to contain local outbreaks, and to see if any reporting anomalies contributed to this sharp one-day increase in cases. We cannot regard this as anomaly â we have to consider this an urgent warning, particularly because of the holiday gatherings now taking place, Canales stated.
