Fayetteville businesses struggling to survive on reduced capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic are expecting a further reduction in sales when Gov. Roy Cooper’s executive order kicks in Friday that limits their hours of operations even more.
But several owners said Wednesday that they are grateful that Cooper, at least for now, has decided not to completely close them down once again.
Cooper said at a press conference Tuesday that more drastic measures might have to be taken if the coronavirus numbers don’t go down.
More than 5,600 North Carolinians have now died from the virus.
“A month ago, we were deeply concerned to see daily case counts go above 3,000,” Cooper said in a press conference Tuesday. “Now we’re shocked that the number has doubled.”
