Students on Vancouver Island are leading the charge as the first to ride B.C.’s inaugural fleet of electric school buses.
The B.C. government announced Thursday that the first buses will roll out in the Sooke school district this week.

In a statement, Premier John Horgan said by shifting gears from diesel to electric school buses, Kindergarten to Grade 12 students are benefiting from healthier and more sustainable learning environments. Electric school buses produce zero emissions and also support Clean B.C.’s target to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by 40 per cent by 2030, Horgan added.
