NB Plc Vs Guinness Plc: The beer review

The Nigerian beverage market has been dominated by Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB Plc) and Guinness Plc for decades. Nigeran Breweries Plc, a subsidiary of Heineken International was the pioneer and began brewing and marketing beer in 1949 (yes, before there was Nigeria). Nigeria also has some history with Guinness Plc, a subsidiary of Diageo as Nigeria was the first location to be selected outside Great Britain to brew the stout lager in 1963. NB Plc has nine breweries across Nigeria with two malting plants, while Guinness has five brewing plants. This picture has since changed as Anheuser-Busch In Bev (AB InBev), the world’s largest beer producer, entered Nigeria in 2016 as International Breweries.

Nigerian Breweries chairman, Kolawole Jamodu, bags honorary doctorate degree from Bells University

The Chairman of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Chief Kolawole Jamodu, has been honoured with the award of Honorary Doctorate Degree, Doctor of Science (DSC) honoris causa by Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State.  Jamodu was conferred with the Honorary Doctorate Degree at the 12th convocation ceremony of the institution held on Saturday April 10, 2021 at the University campus in Ota in recognition  of his immense contribution to the institution, the business ecosystem and national development. Presenting the award to Jamodu, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Jeremiah Ojediran stated that the choice of Jamodu as one of the awardees is in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the development of the university and economic governance in Nigeria.

Vanguard News NB records 4.3% increase in revenue to N337bn On Kindly Share This Story: Nigerian Breweries, NB Plc has recorded revenue of N337 billion for the year ended December 2020, representing an increase of 4.3 per cent from N323 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2019. The company however recorded a 53 per cent fall in its profit after tax to N7.52 billion in 2020 from N16.1 billion in the corresponding period of 2019.  In the statement signed by the Company Secretary/Legal Director, Uaboi Agbebaku, the Board of Directors of NB commended the company’s management for its efforts in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the business, as well as the prudent management of its resources as reflected in the reduction in expenses incurred on marketing, distribution, and administration.
