Seymour s Board of Finance Receives 2021-22 Budget Plan | Top Stories

SEYMOUR — The Board of Finance received the budget for 2021-22 from First Selectwoman Annmarie Drugonis during its budget workshop on Monday, March 8. Ms. Drugonis noted that her current position is different from her experiences as a member of the Board of Selectmen, since 2007, and deputy first selectwoman for the past two years. She emphasized that the budget she was sharing with the finance board had been prepared as a team effort before describing the pandemic as an unprecedented challenge that impacted town finances. Seymour’s current mil rate of 36 would reduce to 34.74, a reduction of 1.75 percent, if the proposed budget were to pass at referendum.

The $6.3 million contract was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. Construction. The bid was almost $1.5 million below its pre-bid estimate on the work, completion of which should be December 2023.

The town on Christmas Eve closed Burton Road to thru traffic from Wolfe Avenue to North Main Street due to structural issues. Residents of the Beacon Mill Village apartments still have access to a parking lot on the road.
