Six killed in motorcycle-related accidents during Daytona Bike Week

The woman was killed when the motorcycle she was riding on as a passenger was rear-ended by a vehicle on International Speedway Boulevard near the intersection of Hagen Terrace, police said. The motorcyclist was westbound on International Speedway Boulevard when his hat flew off. So, he made a U-Turn at Hagen Terrace and headed eastbound to pick up his hat. He was stopped in the roadway when his motorcycle was struck from behind by a Toyota RAV 4 sport utility vehicle, police said. The motorcycle was wedged under SUV and the victim was knocked off the back of the Softail Harley Davidson motorcycle and died at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, an 18-year-old man from Durand, Illinois, was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, Bendayan said.

Motorcyclist dies in Port Orange crash, police say Published:  Tags:  A motorcyclist died following a crash with a vehicle in Port Orange on Sunday evening, according to the Port Orange Police Department. The victim has been identified by police as Isaac Ferguson of South Carolina. He was pronounced dead at Halifax Hospital following an accident at the intersection of Nova Road and Sleepy Hollow Drive, police said. The passenger of the motorcycle is in stable condition at Halifax Hospital, while the driver of the car wasn’t injured, police said. The investigation is being conducted by the Port Orange Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit.

According to Port Orange police, the crash occurred at 7:22 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Nova Road and Sleepy Hollow Drive. A passenger riding with Ferguson, identified as Nadine Smith of Ohio, was also taken to Halifax Health Medical Center and remains in stable condition, police said. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, police said. Port Orange police are asking anyone with information on the crash to call Port Orange Traffic Homicide Investigator Michael Garay at 386-506-5838. Ferguson is the second motorcycle fatality that Port Orange worked during Bike Week. On Wednesday, a 33-year-old Port Orange motorcyclist died when his motorcycle crashed at Country Lane and Taylor Road, police said.
