2020-21 WHL Season Review: Victoria Royals

2020-21 WHL Season Review: Victoria Royals Prior to the Pandemic Having been in the mix for the B.C. Division lead at the halfway point of the 2019-20 campaign, the Royals elected to go all-in at the trade deadline as they acquired Anaheim Ducks first round pick Brayden Tracey from the Moose Jaw Warriors. Despite that move, the Royals ended up hovering around the .500 mark after the trade as they dealt with a number of injuries in the final two months. They were set to face the Vancouver Giants in an intriguing opening round matchup before COVID-19 brought everything to a halt.

It was Dante Hannoun that was able to live out that childhood dream, as he scored the 3-2 overtime goal in the WHL Championship Series rubber match to defeat his hometown Vancouver Giants and win it for the Raiders. Although Hannoun stole the spotlight with one of the most important goals in Raiders history, Noah Gregor was an absolute beast throughout the game. Gregor scored both of the Raiders’ goals in regulation, then wheeled around the offensive zone and found Hannoun in front of the net with a bullet of a pass. Noah Gregor. Kelly scores for Senators in NHL debut

Prince Albert Daily Herald It was a night that Parker Kelly will never forget. Not only did the former Prince Albert Raiders forward make his National Hockey League debut on Wednesday night, but he also scored his first career goal for the Ottawa Senators during their 4-3 overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. “This is crazy,” Kelly said to the media after the game. “I didn’t think it (his debut) would go like this. “I just feel very blessed to have gotten an opportunity and I just want to thank all the people that believed in me and supported me all the way up.”
