LEWISTON A Turner man denied two murder charges Tuesday stemming from the slaying of a Turner couple who were his landlords.

Patrick Maher, 24, of 419 Turner Center Road pleaded not guilty in 8th District Court to two counts of intentional or knowing or depraved indifference murder.
If convicted, he faces from 25 years to life in prison on each charge.
Maher is accused of fatally stabbing Troy Varney, 52, and Dulsie Varney, 48, at their home on Knight Farm Road in Turner early in the morning on Feb 12.

TURNER, Maine Patrick Joseph Maher of Turner pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder in Lewiston District County on Tuesday afternoon, according to Maine Attorney General s Office spokesman Marc Malon said.
Malon said he is facing charges for the murder of Troy and Dulsie Varney. The couple was killed in their home in the early morning hours of February 12. Maher was renting an apartment from them.

AUBURN, Maine An Androscoggin County grand jury has indicted a Turner man for the Feb. 12 murder of Troy and Dulsie Varney in their home, where he was renting an apartment.
Patrick Joseph Maher faces two counts of intentional or knowing or depraved indifference murder.
According to an affidavit, Maher allegedly broke into the home through a downstairs window and stabbed both victims with a knife, killing them both.

A home security system is top on the list to help the daughters of the slain parents, for whom a gofundme page was set up.

24-year-old Patrick Maher appeared at the Lewiston District Court on two counts of knowing or intentional murder, related to the deaths of Troy Varney and Dulsie Varney.
A plea was
not entered on Wednesday. I m not going to be taking a plea here today, Justice Valerie Stanfill said. We just want to make sure that you understand what you re charged with.
