Analysts see discontinuation of FX to BDC affect exchange rate |

The analysts said this in a post on the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) report obtained by Naija247news in Lagos. They said the discontinuation of the sale of foreign exchange to the BDCs would put further pressure on the exchange rate as the commercial banks settle to adjust to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directive. The analysts added that knee jerk reaction from market participants induced by the urge to stockpile the greenback to mitigate an expected exchange rate pressure was another factor.

Enugu assembly passes bill to improve water supply, sanitation |

The bill tagged “the right access to basic water and sanitation services’’ was passed on Tuesday during plenary in Enugu. Leading a debate on the bill, the leader of the assembly, Mr Ikechukwu Ezeugwu, said the state government was committed towards ensuring that residents of the state enjoys portable water supply. Ezeugwu noted that successive government had failed to provide constant water to the residents of the state; a development he argued necessitated the bill.

Oni made the assertions in Ado-Ekiti, while interacting with newsmen on his gubernatorial ambition, saying such arrangement would jeopardise chances of the opposition party in the election. According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party should place priority on who can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), than the primordial and narrow sentiment of zoning. Oni said the voters had rejected the ruling party over its failure in the areas of security, employment generation and economy.
