Sacred People, Sacred Earth: Multi-faith Day of Climate Action – 11 March 2021
On 11 March, grassroots people of diverse religions are coming together around the world for the biggest-ever faith-based global day of action to sound the alarm for climate justice.
A global, multi-faith coalition of established and emerging climate leaders in faith communities – across 14 countries – has come together to create an ambitious statement “Sacred People, Sacred Earth” and an accompanying day of action that reflects our deepest values and beliefs.
As a global, multi-faith, grassroots alliance, we stand for equity and compassion for all, and we deplore injustice. We know that we cannot afford to wait for governments and financial institutions to act first; we understand that change starts with us. We are organizing grassroots people of diverse religions in support of the following demands, and we are leading by example.

Worried that Pangolin could go into extinction in Nigeria on account of Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT), the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), in collaboration with Lagos Urban Forest Animal Sanctuary Initiative (LUFASI) and Saint Marks Animal Rescue Foundation (SMARF), have declared their plans and mission in promoting the conservation of Pangolin species in Nigeria.
The declaration to combat IWT by the NGOs was made during the commemoration of the World Pangolin Day on Sunday, 21st February, 2021 at the Lufasi Park, Eti-Osa, Lagos.
Dr. Mark Ofua, CEO of SMARF, in his welcome address, said it would delight him if people and government could pay more attention to the major issue driving pangolins into extinction.

Stakeholders in different institutions are mobilising support for pangolin conversation in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement obtained on Sunday titled ‘NCF, LUFASI, others mobilise support for Pangolin conservation in Nigeria’.
It stated that as the world was faced with the critical challenge of driving pangolin into extinction through Illegal Wildlife Trade, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation in collaboration with Lagos Urban Forest Animal Sanctuary Initiative and Saint Marks Animal Rescue Foundation affirmed their plans and mission in promoting the conservation of Pangolin species in Nigeria.
