The Nigerian Army on Thursday began show of force in Imo State.
Our correspondent gathered that the military exercise was an offshoot of Monday attacks on Owerri Correctional Center and the Imo State Police Command headquarters.
The attackers, who operated between 1am and 3am also attacked a military base at Ukwuorji on Owerri-Onitsha expressway, burnt a soldier in a car and razed four military operational vehicles.

Five out of the 39 kidnapped students abducted by bandits at the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state have regained their freedom.
This is coming 25 days that the students were abducted from their hostels by the gunmen dressed in military uniform.

Dare-devil gunmen continued their assault in the South-East region of the country by attacking a checkpoint of the Nigerian Army on Sunday, burning down the operational vehicles.
According to an eyewitness, the gunmen invaded the Ukworji Checkpoint along Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State and rained bullets on the personnel, forcing them to flee.
It is not clear yet if any of the army personnel was shot dead.
Troops rescue 10 kidnap victms of Kaduna Airport staff quarters

The Kaduna State Government said troops of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, rescued the 10 victims kidnapped from the Kaduna Airport Staff Quarters on March 6.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan made the disclosure at a press conference in Kaduna.
“It could be recalled that bandits breached the fence of the Kaduna Airport Staff Quarters in the early hours of March 6, and kidnapped these 10 persons from two houses located near the fence.
“Precise details of the rescue location cannot be provided at this time due to operational expediency.”
