For expenses ranging from gas masks and holsters, to moving a piano used by protesters and adding extra portable toilets at jails, northern Minnesota law enforcement and fire departments along the Line 3 oil pipeline route are being reimbursed by an Enbridge-funded account managed by the state.

The upward trend in COVID-19 cases in Crow Wing County is leveling off somewhat but daily numbers continue to be the highest they’ve been since mid-December.
With 43 new cases reported Friday, April 16, the total number reported in the last 14 days surpassed the 500 mark. The number of active cases, however, fell by seven to 391 the first time in weeks this number dropped compared to the previous day. Crow Wing and Aitkin counties are keeping pace with the state average for first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, now nearing 50% of the 16-plus population.
Tim Houle, Crow Wing County administrator, told county commissioners Tuesday, April 13, he hopes the rate of vaccination steels against a climb in deaths attributed to the disease caused by the coronavirus as cases continue to rise locally and in the state.
