There are about 465,000 open positions in cybersecurity nationwide as of May 2021, according to Cyber Seek a tech job-tracking database from the U.S. Commerce Department and the trade group CompTIA.
The need for more web watchmen spans from private businesses to government agencies, experts say, and most of the job openings are in California, Florida, Texas and Virginia. That means for anyone looking to switch careers and considering a job in cybersecurity, there s no greater time than now to find work, the job trackers said.

Overall U.S. employment figures for April may have been dismal but not in the tech sector, which has grown steadily all year, adding 16,000 new jobs in April for a total of 60,900 so far this year.
That’s according to CompTIA‘s analysis of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) latest Employment Situation Summary. The overall jobs numbers, which came out last week, were dismal. The U.S. created just 266,000 new jobs in April when economists surveyed by Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal had estimated 1 million new jobs.

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., May 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The U.S. technology sector has now recorded employment growth in each of the past five months, according to analysis by CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the information technology (IT) industry and workforce.
