On Monday, Dec. 14, Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine, some of which will be distributed to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton (NHCP). Naval Medical Center San Diego expects to begin vaccinations Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton expects to begin vaccinations on Wednesday, Dec. 16. This shipment is part of the DOD allotment of vaccine and is separate from vaccine being shipped directly to State of California authorities. 30:48 VIDEO | 30:48 | NMCSD COVID-19 Vaccine Teleconference In accordance with the Department of Defense’s prioritization schema for administering the vaccine, which is consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the first doses of the vaccine will be given to frontline health care workers and first responders, including emergency medical services personnel, security forces, and other essential personnel.
