Tim Watson has fears the David Mackay case could nudge the game closer to a contactless set of rules.
The veteran Adelaide midfielder will face the Tribunal tomorrow night, charged with conduct “unreasonable in the circumstances”.
Mackay broke St Kilda youngster Hunter Clark’s jaw in three places on Saturday night, having made a late decision to turn after being second to the ball.
“If (the Tribunal) come back and say, ‘not guilty, play on,’ are the AFL then going to change the rules?” Garry Lyon asked
SEN Breakfast.

Garry Lyon says he was âspeechlessâ after hearing Caroline Wilsonâs criticism of Seb Ross and Tim Membrey overnight.
Ross and Membrey missed the clubâs narrow loss to Adelaide on the weekend to be with their partners. The formerâs partner had recently given birth to twins.
âIâd almost say they would have beaten Adelaide. Instead, Seb Ross left to be with his wife Marnie who gave birth to twins five or six weeks ago and he missed the game when the twins were born and he wasnât prepared to stay in Sydney and go to Cairns for another week, Wilson said on
The âuncertaintyâ Melbourne must sort out in second half of season
By
Melbourne was beaten for just the second time this season in Round 13.
The Demons went down to Collingwood by 17 points at the SCG on Monday in Nathan Buckleyâs final game in charge of the Magpies.
Simon Goodwinâs side was restricted to its lowest score of the season (63) so far and as a result, that prompted Tim Watson to suggest the following in the wake of that blunt attacking performance.
âI wouldnât overreact if I was a Melbourne fan today,â Watson said on
SEN Breakfast.
âBut I would say this - I think thereâs an uncertainty still about their front half and whether or not (Sam) Weideman fits into their front six.
